Venice Visual Arts Biennale 2017 - Artist’s choice for the French pavilion
Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and Audrey Azoulay, Minister of Culture and Communication, have chosen to select Xavier Veilhan’s “Merzbau musical” project to represent France at the 57e Venice International Art Biennial in 2017.
This installation, of which the two commissioners will be MM. Lionel Bovier and Christian Marclay, will play on the volumes and decors of the space of the French pavilion inspired by the universe of the recording studio. Visitors will be able to discover exceptional musical instruments, some of which will be created for the occasion, and hear musicians from all walks of life throughout the Venice Biennale.
Mr. Jean-Marc Ayrault and Ms. Audrey Azoulay welcome the ambition of this project, which brings together different forms of visual arts and music.
They also wish to pay tribute to the work and quality of the proposals of all the candidates.
