On the occasion of the State visit of François Hollande, President of the Republic, to Romania on Tuesday 13 September 2016, Audrey Azoulay, Minister of Culture and Communication, met with her Romanian counterpart, Corina Şuteu, Minister of Culture.
The French President and the President of Romania, Klaus Werner Iohannis, have announced the France-Romania cultural season. It will begin on 1 Januaryer December 2018, the day of the Romanian national holiday which will mark the centenary year of the reunification of modern Romania. The youth, contemporary creation, research and innovation of each country will be at the heart of cultural events.
Following Audrey Azoulay’s visit to the Kyralina French-language bookshop in Bucharest, the two ministers discussed the richness of cultural exchanges between the two countries on the margins of their visit to the Romanian National Theatre. They also went to the French Institute, a symbol of openness and the history of Franco-Romanian relations.
Finally, after a meeting with the young generation of Romanian cinema, Audrey Azoulay welcomed Corina Şuteu’s ambitious reform of the policy of support for cinema.
