The Minister arrived in Los Angeles last night for a 3-day visit during which she will meet successively the leaders of Sony Pictures, Paramount, Universal pictures, Disney studios, Warner Bros and Amazon studios.
This tour of the studios that she started as soon as she arrived with the visit of Lionsgate aims to encourage the shooting of foreign films in France through the International Tax Credit (C2l)
The Minister increased the rate from 20% to 30% and raised the ceiling to €30 million. This attractive tax system has been in effect since 1 January 2016.
Among the other highlights of this ministerial visit, Fleur Pellerin will distinguish tonight Julie Delpy, French actress and director, and François Truffard, president of the French film festival COLCOA, in the order of Arts and Letters during a ceremony at the Consulate General of France.
Tomorrow, the Minister will visit Broad Museum then to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) led by Frenchman Philippe Vergne, before visiting the only French artist residence in the United States, the Fahrenheitfounded in 2014 by the foundation for the promotion of French culture FLAX (France Los Angeles Exchange).
Finally, she will meet academics from the prestigious University of California (UCLA) and the School of Cinematic Arts (The USC School of Cinematic Arts) around the training to write screenplays for audiovisual series. With many advantages in this rapidly expanding sector, France has high-quality series that are increasingly being exported to the world, such asGears or of the Ghosts. The Minister wishes to take advantage of this dynamism to further develop this sector and all these professions.
