By decree of the President of the Republic dated January 8, 2015 and on the proposal of Fleur Pellerin, Minister of Culture and Communication, Stéphane Braunschweig is appointed director of the National Theatre of the Hill, renewing his mandate, as of January 16, 2015.
Since his appointment in 2010, Stéphane Braunschweig has conducted an opening project, contributing to the evolution of the Theatre of the Hill by taking into account a dimension exploring simultaneously contemporary texts and their stage writing. He also gave a lot of space to young artists. Internationally, he has introduced the work and work of foreign directors by hosting their productions in the original language and entrusting them with productions with French actors.
This second three-year mandate will allow Stéphane Braunschweig to deepen his project for the Hill initiated in 2010: a theatre dedicated to contemporary theatre creation, to the emergence of new writings both textual and scenic, with an attention on the one hand to young artists and collectives who often accompany them, and on the other to artists with important backgrounds and continent to be innovative.
He will continue to associate artists over several seasons, and devote much of his work to supporting the projects of independent companies.
Under his leadership, the Théâtre de la Colline will also continue to develop pilot projects in arts education.
