Fleur Pellerin, Minister of Culture and Communication, brought together all the regional directors of cultural affairs to discuss with them the initiatives to be taken in favour of arts education and cultural action for all the young people of our country, but also of a greater cultural presence in all territories still too far from culture, which can be called "white areas of culture", whether they are priority neighbourhoods of the city’s policy, rural or peri-urban areas.
For the Minister, "through culture, we are preparing the world for future generations. That is why no one should be left out of this culture, because it is it that ensures the cohesion of our national community. '
Efforts will focus in particular on a change in the scale of actions in favour of arts and cultural education, media education and a more assertive orientation of interventions in favour of priority territories. It will also focus on better taking into account the diversity of practices and modes of access to youth culture, including the place taken by digital technology.
The many spontaneous proposals of artists and professionals to put themselves at the service of this mobilization create the opportunity to achieve concrete and rapid progress. The reform of school schedules, the negotiation of city contracts will be as many levers of action for the services of the Ministry of Culture and Communication.
The Minister also announced that the unfreezing of credits for the transmission of knowledge, announced by Prime Minister Manuel Valls in early January, will be devoted to this intense mobilization effort.
Fleur Pellerin also said that the experimental support system for local media would be reactivated in the coming weeks. In addition, the support fund for community radio stations will evolve to take greater account of citizen initiatives, and the strategic press development fund will be used to offer innovative media education tools in the territory.
The DRAC will meet every six weeks around the Minister to continue this mobilization effort, which must be part of the long term.
